N° 27 septembre 2022 The authorities of Latvia and the city of Riga have decided to demolish the entire complex of the antifascist monument located in the center of the Latvian capital which was dedicated to the liberation of Riga from the fascist occupiers.
This is one more step towards rewriting history. It takes place in a country where anti-communist persecutions are practiced and where the Nazi "legions" now officially parade every year.
This campaign bears the signature of the EU and its governments serving as a pretext for the notion of the "struggle against totalitarianism" by establishing an unhistorical equation between communism and fascism which targets the consciences of the young generation, ( see weekly 698 ). It aims to erase the heroic and decisive contribution of the Soviet people and the Red Army to the crushing of the fascist monster, child of capitalism."The peoples were right, but we must not sing victory, it is still too early: the still fertile belly, from which the filthy beast arose" wrote Bertolt Brecht.
The new intensity that this operation takes uses the imperialist war in Ukraine between the Euro-Atlantic forces and Russia and tries to identify the unacceptable Russian invasion of Ukraine and the behavior of capitalist Russia, born out of the counter-revolution , with the Soviet Union and the antifascist victory.
The Revolutionary Communist Party denounces the campaign of falsification of EU history and the Latvian authorities for the demolition of the anti-fascist monument and expresses its solidarity with those who fight against anti-communism and anti-Sovietism.
