Bulletin No45 avril 2024 The French colonial state had imposed that the 3rd self -determination referendum be held on the scheduled date in December 2021, against the will and request of the separatists to postpone it, taking into account the impact of covid and the period of mourning that followed. The result of this referendum was marked by an abstention of 57%, with the no to independence winning by a narrow margin. The colonial power did everything to organize this electoral masquerade against the advice of the first interested parties, the Kanaks, who called and refused to participate in the vote and were massively heard and followed. This desire to maintain colonial domination was clearly expressed yesterday by the President of the Republic in economic terms, with the nickel resources of the island and also by the geo-strategic character of New Caledonia in the Indo-Pacific space. so coveted by all the imperialist powers in the region and where France intends to play its economic and military part. This is what we clearly affirmed following the referendum by supporting the right to independence of the Kanak people[1]. If for the Kanak organizations fighting for independence, this is still on the agenda, the French colonial power intends to create, through a new coup, the conditions for its colonial domination. He has in fact just decided to postpone the provincial elections scheduled for 2024 and above all to open the way to a modification of the electoral body, unfavorable to the indigenous populations by including new metropolitan arrivals in order, through settlement colonization, to oust the rights of the Kanak people to their independence. This imposition of a change in the electoral body is a violation of the Nouméa agreements which made it possible to initiate a process of decolonization[2]. Such a modification of the electorate is in contradiction with the UN resolution which indicates that the: "administering powers" must "ensure that the exercise of the right to self-determination is not hampered by changes in the composition demographic due to immigration or the movement of populations in the territories they administer.
The COMMUNIST Revolutionary Party reaffirms its support for the legitimate demands of the Kanak people for their right to independence and unequivocally condemns the new maneuvers of the French colonial power.
